The Shawakah

Al-Shawakah

Al-Shawakah is a mystical musical ceremony, usually preceding the pilgrimage season. On this occasion, the pilgrim is ready to go to the holy places to perform the Hajj rituals.
This evening, the pilgrim sits either in front of the public come to say goodbye to him, or before a group of singers who will exchange the moments of the song. The poetic texts of the shawakah contain meanings that appeal to those who are present and particularly eager to visit the holy places and complete the Hajj.
During the evening, most of the audience, and especially the pilgrim, will have tears in their eyes as a result of the context, the poetic text and the way they are interpreted.
