MO Rodgers

Mighty Mo Rodgers born Maurice Rodgers in 1942 in East Chicago, Indiana is a pianist, organist, singer and blues composer. He studied classical piano, but listened to the blues and jazz musicians who performed in his father's club. As a teenager, he slipped into Gary's Chicken Shack, the neighboring city, to listen to Willie Dixon, Eddie Boyd, Jimmy Reed, etc.
He abandoned his studies and left for Los Angeles. There, he works in the studios and plays with T-Bone Walker, Albert Collins, Bobby Blue Bland, Jimmy Reed, etc.
In 1973, he produced a disc by one of his "heroes", the harmonica player Sonny Terry, with Brownie McGhee. Then, disgusted by the changes in the music industry (his "Hollywood side", he says) and the arrival of disco, he resumed his studies and won a degree in philosophy.
At the same time, for a living, he writes for Chappell and Motown. He then invested in teaching in the difficult neighborhoods of Los Angeles. He returned to music in 1992. Today, in addition to his musical career, he is preparing a master's degree: The blues as metaphysical music (its musicality and its ontological supports).
