Following an interruption imposed by the restoration works carried out at the Ennejma Ezzahra Palace, the Centre for Arab and Mediterranean Music resumes its musical activity, by organizing a series of concerts entitled "Layali Ennejma Ezzahra” (Nights of Ennejma Ezzahra) during the second half of the month of Ramadan.
The program includes six evenings , with a clear emphasis on spiritual music.
Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 June 2017 at 22:00: Ez-Ziyara by Sami Lajmi
Ez "Ziara", a show bringing together a hundred interpreters between musicians, dancers and singers, revisits the ritual practices and musical traditions of several religious confraternities (Issawiya and Awamriya) active throughout Tunisia.
The term "Ziara" (Arabic for visit) refers to visits to the oratories and sanctuaries (Zawiyas) of the confraternities taking place during religious celebrations. Traditional dances and chants are mingled with contemporary forms of expression ( light effects and shadows) adding to the magic of this show, which is both visual and musical.
